Odisha women cornered glory in the 25th Asian Junior Weightlifting Championship as Jhilli Dalabehera secured silver in junior 48kg class, while Sneha Soren bagged bronze in youth 48kg category at Urganch in Uzbekistan today.
Tainee of State Government-run Sports Hostel in Bhubaneswar, Jhilli finished second in junior 48kg with a total lift of 166kg. She lifted 73kg in snatch and 93kg in clean and jerk. This was the third international medal for Khurda lass Jhilli, who had bagged two golds in the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship, held at Gold Coast in Australia from September 3 to 9, 2017.
Mayurbhanj girl Sneha won the bronze with a total lift of 145kg. She had also won two gold medals in the Gold Coast Commonwealth Weightlifting Championship. The 25th Asian Junior Championships will serve as qualification for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics Games, scheduled to be held in Argentina.
